Patent is the right and the name of the document showing this right that gives the creator of an invention the sole right to use that invention for a set period of time. Inventions can only be protected with Utility Model Registration or Patent. Patents are grouped into two as examined and unexamined patents. Protection period is 20 years in examined patents and 7 years in unexamined patents.
We can list the Patent Registration Criteria as follows:
1. Innovation: The invention should not be something that is offered to the public before.
2. Industry Compatibility: The invention should be applicable and usable in the industry in respect of its form.
3. Improving Technique’s Current State: The invention shall offer a technical advantage compared to its equals. In other words the invention shall improve the current state. It shall not be simple enough to be thought and applied by an expert in its respective technical field. |
